Adventure Developments “Low Ropes Courses”
Low Ropes Courses are used extensively at most outdoor education centres.
Under the heading Low Ropes comes a vast array of different types of apparatus which instructors use in a truly unending number of ways.

Skilled instructors / facilitators frame an activity to make it appropriate to a groups physical ability/agility and their capacity to communicate/co-operate at that time. They may then set a new but completely different task using exactly the same apparatus.
Low Ropes Activities can be categorised into one of the following groups:

Description:
Generally built on small poles about 5 meters high, or in trees. Ideally they would be spread out over a large area so groups can work unobserved and un-distracted.Works Best:
With physically able older children and adults. Team challenges always present a range of interesting de-brief topics and natural gaps between activities to reflect on learnings.Requires:
Planning, Co-operation, Communication, Patience, Balance, Agility, High levels of spotting.Elements May Include:

Description:
Generally we find this works best built in trees, or at least on poles placed amongst trees. Low linked ropes courses can be built on poles large flat areas or tiered areas suit best.Works Best:
For instilling a sense of achievement, and if time allows, perfection of grace and style as participants learn how to do the activities and improve their technique. We find this works well with all user groups, but is most popular among centres catering for younger children.Requires:
Moderate levels of balance, agility and mobility.Elements May Include:

For young children who relish the balance and movement challenges over team tasks. At a younger age the sexes can also compete more equally.Requires:
Grit, Determination, Sweat, Laughter, Speed, Running, Jumping, Swinging, Crawling, Instructors to get involved, (sometimes mud!)Elements May Include:
